Backstabbers
Lose!
By
Rhoberta Shaler, PhD
Whatever
are people thinking when they are two-faced? Are they really
thinking that people are stupid and can't see the forest
for the trees?
When
meetings take place surreptitiously, behind closed doors
and blinds, suspicion builds. I was
working with a finance
department for a major agency. The director was well-known...and
feared...for her supposed 'open door' policy. Loudly she
proclaimed that anyone at any time was welcome to come
and speak with her in her office. She declared that she
wanted
open communication and everyone feeling able to talk with
her. Sounds great. So, what was the problem?
When
a brave person would muster up his or her courage and take
her
at her word, it was likely that, in moments,
the
yelling voice of the director could be heard throughout
the department, complete with language suitable for a
gutter! Oh, but that was not all. Seconds later, the door
of her
office would slam shut and the blinds would snap. The
hopeful employee trapped inside. And, the abuse would continue....

Things to Ask Yourself About Your Dreams at Midlife
by Susan Dunn
Midlife
is a challenging transition when you tend to take stock
of your life and your dreams. Make a list of the dreams
from your youth
and ask yourself these questions about them. Then give yourself
permission to let go of the dreams you no longer need and
make some new dreams suitable to the new you and this new
stage of
your life!
1.
Was this an 'ego' dream, i.e., something you did to prove something
to someone or to yourself instead of something
you really
wanted.
Example: Getting a law degree when you didn't really want
to be a lawyer.
2.
Is this dream still suitable for you?
Example: Wanting to be a Broadway star when you're really
a homebody, hate to travel, don't like to be in the spotlight,
and got rid of the urge by starring in local theater productions.
3.
Was this dream really yours or was it someone else's ...

Men
and Women -- We're Just Different
by
Marnie Pehrson
I
don't care what anyone says – you can claim we're equal
all day long – but I'll never agree that men and women are
the same. We're distinct from day one. We're born different
and here's 5 evidences to back up my theory.
The
Shirt
Ever notice how a woman takes her shirt off verses how
a man takes his off? A woman crosses her arms in front of herself – the
left hand grabbing the bottom right side of the shirt and her right
hand grabbing the bottom left side of the shirt, and pulls it gracefully
over her head in the same direction as her hair flows. What about
a guy? He reaches back behind his neck with both hands and yanks
the shirt off over his head, mussing his hair as he goes. This is
not taught. I have five children and the girls all take their shirts
off the ''woman way'' and the boys all take theirs off the ''guy
way.'' ...
