Staffing Nurse and
Husband Fulfill Lifelong Dreams
By
Claire Brocato
After working as a staff nurse for almost 35 years, Roberta
Townson, MS, RN, made the decision to leave her hometown of Summerville,
South Carolina, to become a traveler.
It wasn't the career opportunities or financial incentives
that persuaded this extraordinary nurse to make the change. Instead, it
was her husband's ailing health that prompted her to embark on the
adventure of a lifetime.
"One evening, shortly after my husband was diagnosed with
muscular dystrophy and put on permanent disability, I was paging through
a nursing magazine at work," recalled Townson. "I came across an
advertisement that asked the question: 'Why not travel?' After reading
this, I realized that I didn't have one good reason not to."
"I'd never considered travel nursing before, but after giving it some
more thought, I realized that it would be the perfect opportunity for
Gene and I to explore all the places we'd always dreamed about
visiting," she said. "I wanted him to see and do everything he possibly
could, and to live the last few years of his life to the fullest."

appreciation by rewarding travel nurses' hard work and dedication.
Whether its free housing, free health insurance, retirement plans or
incentive programs, travel companies make every effort to provide the
best benefits packages as a "thank you" to their travelers........

Travel Nurse Relocates
Family
by
Claire Brocato
Lyn Varrati, RN, and her family enjoyed the wide
open spaces and unhurried pace of life in Nebraska. They never thought
about the possibility of living anywhere else. That is until Varrati's
five-year-old daughter, Marissa, was approached by Hollywood's top
talent agencies.
The management company and agency who wanted to
sign her were both based in Los Angeles," Varrati explained. "That's
when we realized that living in Nebraska presented us with some
logistical problems."
