The SEIU Nurse Alliance and UNAC-UHCP, AFSCME (United
Nurses Associations of California) have reached an
agreement with Tenet Healthcare Corporation that will
provide RNs at the company's California hospitals with
an unprecedented voice in decisions that affect their
patients and their future. The agreement includes:

* A special election process that will allow RNs and
their colleagues to form a union with SEIU or UNAC/UHCP,
AFSCME quickly and without impediment;

* Streamlined negotiations that provide RNs with raises
and other provisions similar to those negotiated by
SEIU RNs at Tenet's Garfield Medical Center in Monterey
Park, Calif., including:

* 29% raises over the next four years, guaranteed.

* A strong voice in staffing and patient care decisions
as participants in a Patient Care Committee where RNs
will have an equal say with nurse managers.

* Job security that guarantees benefits even if a hospital
is sold.

More than 5,500 RNs and other health care professionals
are already members of SEIU or UNAC-UHCP, AFSCME coast-to-coast.
They look forward to uniting with thousands of other
Tenet RNs and health care professionals. The new agreement
also extends provisions similar to those for RNs to
all other health care professionals at Tenet.
